Would You Sell...

Your songs to somebody big? Or hold the rights forever?

I really think if you have a song you should exploit it. My husband has songs he's incubating with frightful loyalty like a broody hen mother! We only have "stronger" out to listen to in a copyrighted but unpublished kinds way.

He's been carefully building fields of sound. Stones all getting turned. The beats are very carefully selected from his international pallet... One day the cha-cha, then no, a boss a nova to improve with a switchout....

Nothing cluttered. Only 3-4 fields, not cancelled sound, no excessive, boring buildups and no lazy, circular fadeouts. Not too short, or too long, but with instrumental variations to allow for segments for musical ads or other demands. So one song is more like a few. The radio version attends to radio needs.

The voices sit neatly on top, unless for background harmonies.

I listen as a student of pop all day. I'm so impressed with his passion to do everything with excellence, and as the one man driving.

It's kind of silly I do poetry and anything other than house/mothering.

But I do it so my babies can follow what we did if we pass... and so they know what happened if we fail massively.

Still, maybe I must stop soon. I don't know.
