Image for the poem Tarnished Sunflower

Tarnished Sunflower

Tarnished her sunflower and wilted her petals
Color changed to red instead of bright yellow
Iniquitous fellows grabbed her at the bus stop
Took her to seclusion & forced panties to drop

No one stopped them from ravaging her soul
Their hearts were as black as lumps of coal
With cold blood coursing through their veins
They brutally infused their semen & pain

She'll never be the same after such vicious torture
Was targeted from the jump cause of her culture
Vultures attacked her because she was different
Stomped on her flower and dismantled her spirit

Author's Note
I watched a short film named Kyenvu and the ending hurt my heart. I composed this based off of it. Link below for those who want to see.
