I was in love with your smile, your voice,
Your body, your laugh
And the way your eyes undressed me.
You reminded me what butterflies felt like
How ordinary moments can feel so magical
And what an extraordinary experience it was
To have someone make me feel
So much better about myself
Or even how someone special
Could bring my smile back.
The connection felt so real
As rare as a blue rose.
and then just like that
you made me feel so unwanted
Like a thorn on a rose tree
Your stare followed her around the room
With the same affection in your eyes
That you once had for me
Was I not tall enough, skinny enough
Or beautiful enough for you
Reality had once again struck
That no matter how beautiful, tall
or skinny one is,
it is never always enough.
And so my quest for happiness continues
