The lovely Minion video helped me make sense of the poem.

It would be an interesting ritual to change one's name by going somewhere echoey and special and shouting it.

(I have heard of story of a woman who was trying to get on with a man she fancied at work; she ran naked round a hill said to have magical powers three times shouting the man's name - next time she saw him he asked her out!)
