was born
before
the invention
of adhd
autism spectrum disorder
and ptsd
otherwise
they
would have
diagnosed
drugged
incarcerated
disciplined
and ostracized
him
instead
he
was accepted
and
appreciated
labeled queer
and
allowed
his quirky
nonconformist
ways
which
resulted
in
a
complete
human
being
flawed
and
perfect
his
creative work
balanced
between
exquisite beauty
and
horrific images

This piece has a flow that runs like hot oil into the reader's ear. I'm all about the economy of language, and there doesn't seem to be a wasted word, here, one phrase seeping into another. I am an old-timer, so I remember when the word "queer" was used this way. It's a great word, and I love how you've focused on the acceptance part of it.

Yes. I hate it when a word is co-opted for political purpose, which limits the way it can be used in meaningful conversation without explanation or apology. Thanks for your feedback. (I also like the nonpolitical use of the word 'gay')
