To Wake Unhappy
An eye to the romance
parading by
the riddle
occupies hours
translated to sheets
startled awake
before the light
wanting to sneak
to her room
to lie against her
in the chill
of the empty feeling
hoping she will move against
the ridge forming
in that semi-conscious state
to quell the shadings
of abandonment
that haunt his broken slumber
touching himself
could never be enough,
but the dying thirst
she banished
was a cruel alteration
to a natural progression

A moment where the movements of the night seem far away. But I assume we must feel this, to appreciate when it happens. Thank you for enjoying this examination and have an enjoyable Sunday.

Wistful, will resonate with those who have woken alone in bed with that love ready feeling, but the other's not there.
