Death of Tom Sawyer....Tribute to Neil Peart

spilled the tea
on the arrid desert.        shuffling
off the mortal coil
flask poured rye in his parched mouth
sparkles in his eye

from the spotlight
a twinkle in time
the magician's top hats walks
across the stage
from the limelight, teardrops fall
presto everything changes

drumsticks
like his magic wand
in the catacombs the spells are written
on grains of rice,
like a philosopher scribes
by candle light

heaven's gate opens up
rock & roll angels open welcoming arms
calling the magician home

show me don't tell me
a picture says a thousand words

as the drum roll dies

Author's Note
R.I.P. Neil..
Many bands influence my work but something about Rush and Neil Peart Drumming and the fact he had this heart of a poet on each of Rush's songs Neil was a monster drummer with the heart of a poet
