THE STUMP OF A TREE
THE STUMP OF A TREE
Short stump of that tall tree, you touch my heart.
You were a tree so high and full of leaves.
My parents saw you when they passed you by
and went to their own house when they lived near.
You saw them and you blessed them with a look
so full of love and tender feelings to
two living persons from a living plant
that knew the place where they would go to dwell.
You went with them where no one knows but you.
Do you see them in your new home up there?
If you do, please tell them l miss them much,
and your remainder flames my love anew.
