Bye Bye My Love

Memories of how we used to gaze
At the bright night stars together
Counting the magnificent constellations
Still fresh in my mind
I now stare at the dark sky alone
Wondering how we got to this point
Me alone and you with her
Though my intuition was on par
My naivety was the game
My eyes oblivious to the obvious
My ears deaf to the loud whispers
Of your not-conspicuous philandering ways
But like two like magnets, you repelled
You repelled the love that you once knew
The love that stood by you
In good and bad times
In health and in sickness
Your ego and condescending character,
Well concealed behind your charm.
Constantly opening the emotional floodgates
And like the three gorges dam of Shanghai
There was no stopping your tirade of words
An acid tongue you had,
Eroding everything in your path
But my darling, nothing lasts forever
The healing process is well underway
The memories of us are long forgotten
Hearing or Seeing your name
No longer bring smiles to my face
Nor butterflies in my stomach
You are now my past, but not my destiny
Forgotten is the love we once shared
Some endings don't need proper goodbyes
But a new script with a new narrative
Needs a standing ovation
