Grannypig in a Web - Mel Won't Bite

Mel used almost no brain power to respond, after climbing to the mountain, drinking from the fountain, and so much more only to realize certain parts of civil life offended her inner savage beyond tolerable limits, including her fallible local credit system. “No way. After our last adventure with Chaz, no more! We agreed. We share Grandpa's farm and I won't risk it again. Not even with vids going gangbusters. We are still making money with ads, right?”

“Not really anymore, no. Sorry. Do you think your black-ops guys had anything to do with it? Our view counts seem to have reset, as well. Chaz was kind enough to point it out.”

Mel’s eyes narrowed. “You already talked to him at the bank, didn't you!?”

Daddy Farmer shuffles his feet slightly as he studies them, then looks at the door of his truck parked a regrettable distance away.

“Well, I.... I”

“That's at least two kinds of wrong, bro! You need my signature on any farm loans, and I count the media part of our online farm business in all that, by the way.”

“I know, Mel. I'm sorry. What do you want from me?”

“For you to finish explaining why you need so much money! We used to be happy enough with a lot less.”

“You don't have a wife who wants a tropical island with an airport! Show some compassion!”

“Get out of here. And stop comparing your wife to mine. It's not easy living with a monk.”

Daddy Farmer is more than brave, he's part wild-child. “Is she really trying to look like the last airbender, or is it alopecia?”

MeI reacted more strongly than he expected. “I was going to invite you to movie night but I'm sure your wife has a headache. Or a pain in the neck. Just tell her the truth about the channel’s changing success and postpone the dream.”

“I wished it always could work that way.... see you around Mel.” Daddy Farmer walks away.
