Maybe you become
The guy that time forgot
When everyone gets what
they want from life,
the one who grants wishes
just forgets you
Maybe you're the one
whose name they forget
The one they refer to
when they say:

'remember that guy,
what was his name again?'

Maybe everyone moves on
Everyone grows up
Everyone has the weddings
Has the kids
And you are the one
who gets left behind

You end up being the one
With a different partner in every event
Because you loved too hard
a few times and now
you are just afraid of
opening your heart

Maybe you're the disappointment
The one they all hoped would make it
But never does because
his dreams have no cap
The promising player
Who is still promising as a old man

Maybe that's you

The one who ages
and becomes cynical
They one who tells kids
to stop dreaming
The one who tells them that
fairy tales aren't real
The one who stomps their feet
really hard and load
so the kids will find out that
there is no tooth fairy

Who knows really
You may have your eyes
On the horizon
For so long that
you never realize that
the sun never really moves

You soon miss the little things
You soon miss your youth
The bliss and laughter

You soon miss the meaningless conversations
You miss how everyone
had that sparkle in their eyes
And now you are sitting there
Realising that maybe you gave it your all
And that is all that matters

when you move on and
Become what you swore you'd hate
It's still okay
because maybe
that's what growing up is:

It's the process of you
watching yourself become a cynic
The process of you making friends
And then losing touch with them
The process of chasing a dream
Then waking up from it
The process of finding love
Then losing it a few times
But still learning to love

Maybe you are just a being who
Is on this earth to say that he has lived
