Sealing the contents
to secure the past
twisting the lid
so they can't slip out
to shade the future
in what no longer
must matter
for they are gone
with the conclusion
of another year
to become old fears
and to soon trickle
from the memory
with each new horizon
to level the judgement
for new possibilities.
