These people thrive for
Something different
Not just clothes
Cars, shoes, phones, and even homes
Anything of high value
They want it to be known
I got it
Especially when singers, athletes, and movie stars
Are possessing
Owning nice things
I'm not denouncing
But when one cannot afford
Going to extreme measures
Like hunger
Even their kids starving
So they can say
Look at what I own
Fiends for material things
Putting their needs in the backyard
For a little bit of recognition
Or the criminal minded
Steal and even kill
By any means
For what they can't pay for
This can't be real
But this is America
Making people believe
What is not known
