Farewell and a million thanks to all
beneath the table
Harry Rout 1994 (Published in The Mainichi - Japan)
About four months ago I made the decision that 2020 would be the year that I retire from formal life and concentrate on my personal spiritual path...that being Daoism. To live by my beloved ocean and just appreciate the silence and beauty of this wonderful planet. Long walks and meditation...the beauty and chaos of Nature...freedom truly is a state of mind.
I decided that my last poem would be the very first haiku that I somehow managed to get published in Japan...actually it was my wonderful partner of 26 years suggestion to end my time here in DUP with this piece. Thank you Carol...love you as always.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the cyber-space friendships that I have had with many brilliant Poets on this extraordinary site...so to all those who created this Artistic Palace, and to all who contribute poetry each and everyday...I give each and everyone of you a deep heartfelt hug and all my love.
So Poets...keep putting pen to paper...keep punching those keys...and keep the ink flowing gently from your minds.
Hoping you all find balance and harmony in your lives...remember, to be born human on this tiny speck of dust in a galaxy in the middle of It all, is truly the only meaning you need to realize.
Everything is happening all at once...so where is the Way?
