The Moment ( For Ram Dass )
“We're all just walking each other home.”
~ Ram Dass
Here is the moment—
beautiful and terrible:
yet, there is nothing flawed
across its wildest span of seconds—
only existence reliving
a karmic form of now;
but, tulkus who choose
their return have learned
Love is the fullness
we initially mistake as food
~

That last stanza drives it home one 350 reindeer powered sleigh.
Love is a constant while the material things we think are sustaining us come and go.

Indeed, Kitts. Indeed. We each evolve in our own time. It sure seems to take a long time sometimes, doesn't it?
Thank you, my friend.

Lololol....
I wasn't before, but don't read your poem with your mind in the gutter.
Especially the last two lines.

Dear A,
Another confession to my lack of poetic education I am unaware of this poet- you have introduced and taught me another bit of information. Thank you.
Your piece has gently reminded me that wrapping myself in the hugs of my loved ones is way better than cold hard materialistic “things”. Those can be replaced but not those who love us and that is so important especially when we’re feeling not quite so “up”. Beautiful write, as per! H🌷

Thank you, Honoria, for always being so thorough in your interpretations. Ram Dass was a philosopher, psychologist, spiritual teacher, and author. My favorite lesson from him was facing what you wanted to escape.
He was born of Jewish Parents but considered that a mistake, and himself an atheist while leaning toward philosophy & psychology. Yet, in his later life, he realized that the very thing you try to escape has you; therefore, he began studying Judaism to understand it better.
What you run from will be waiting for you wherever you go.
Your interpretation is spot on in regards to what's important in life.

Thanks, Nikki. That he was. Hard to believe he was born in Boston and not somewhere in Asia. Just goes to show you what the soul desires to experience it will, while always finding its way back home.

"We're all just walking each other home"
It's made me cry.
A sentiment so pure.

Re. The Moment ( For Ram Dass )
"... Love is the fullness... "... No doubt about that.
And what kind of food would it look like?. Certainly cherries.
Very nice poem.
