Shadows

Darkness swarms, shadows pierce the night.
Dread being noticed, but safely out of sight.
Comfort with strangers avoiding contact.
One less reminder of what it is they lack

Most are unwilling to tackle the unknown
Willfully ignorant, and self condoned
Glass walls allow, narrow-minded ideals
Oblivion minimizes the shadows ordeals

Addiction and despair, hidden behind grime
To survive this cruel world, many turn to crime.
Histories overflow with abuse and deceit.
numbing the mind, wash, rinse and repeat.

Food and shelter, impossible to source
Shamed by their surrender to an unmovable force
Shunned by society, judged by peers
Turning to suicide, full of dark fears.

Will their tomorrow be defined by today? Who will take responsibility leading the way?
Consider this, shadows disappear in the light.
Given another chance, for a journey rewrite
