Dear Daddies - My Own Sweet Sugar

"Just write down what you expect of me, and what I should expect of you. That's what it came to, eventually. Is there anything more reasonable?" His question was punctuated by the innocent spread of his hands and his endearing expression.

"I couldn't agree more!" I responded "How could anything be more reasonable?"

What else could headstrong teens expect; mind reading parents? How can they resent us when we have an open dialogue for them that they bitterly ignore?

Over the years I have witnessed this man I love get the brunt of people's insanity while willingly shouldering his responsibilities and worrying that all blame for all our family's hardships would fall on him. No way can I stand by and let that happen. There are thousands of daddies like him today, making the situation even more compelling.

How could we possibly work to correct this if we don't employ our most powerful weapons as tools for defense of their hearts and beat them into the shape of their healing?

I am a nurse on the battlefield of our broken hearts, and today I offer my little words for the lifting of noble, peppered, hairy chins. Young fathers as they begin to age into their essential positions, beginning to learn of their crosses and other future tortures.

Hold on, dear Daddies. Hold on to life and to your purpose. You will not be sorry.
