Autumn VII: Trifold
1.
Late autumn and winter
bring subtle charms
with Yuletide work—
such as crafting aphrodisiacal recipes
for holiday gifts and soirées
Plenty of rain, festooning
and burning of leaves
are a homecoming of sorts
—the bouquet signaling an end
to laborious harvesting—
before bedecking a new beginning
—we do what needs be done
while awaiting light’s return
2.
Rooted firmly in the forest
is but another laboring colony
—one predating humans—
deciduous Beings contemplating
their post-Solstic dormancy
An old Snag, having seen it all
is tolerant of a young River Birch—
her yellow limbs all aflutter
while orange Sugar Maples eagerly huddle
within earshot of the exchange
Such dramatics are commonplace
amid these slumber parties—
until hibernation succeeds
They do what needs be done
until Spring nudges their roots
3.
Suspended in the atmosphere
a Cold Moon shadows its high trajectory
being blamed for human wonkiness
while credited for positive circumstance—
it superbly balances both aspects
The culmination of a cycle
pivoting on a dime in Gemini—
childlike and adult in one
adventure in fresh supply
It does what needs be done
to maintain an allusive mystery
until it makes its return
While we, battened snugly
beneath our hatches
believe it to know everything

Thanks, Nikks! Yep - nothing like a fireplace in winter is there! Heck, even a fire pit in summer! Thank you, you're much appreciated. xo

Amazing! I love the artful sound effects you adorn it with.
Your writings (and readings) are like a Thomas Kindkade painting.

Love Love the chirping in the backdrop!!
Listening to this spill
makes me want to move to a Forest and live off the land
similar to when i'd solo Backpack for 3 months in Yosemite.

Thank you, Tallen! I love the sound of a forest too! There's something so feral and yet familiar about it all. Backpacking is both exhilarating and frightening, as you don't know what's around the corner in the wild!
I appreciate you! xo

Your skillful writing inspires me. A gorgeous and potent poem for the season... being spoken to us from a perspective seemingly hundreds of millions of miles high.
Also, your voice massages my brain.

Nothing less than a top notch production and reading!
My favorite section is Part 2 is of the various trees having the slumber party! I love the mix of generations under one roof of branches.
The theme running throughout of bunkering down calls to mind a triad of resonations.
Firstly, the phrase 'what needs to be done' speaks not only of how there is only so much that can be accomplished in a season, but also how there must be a period of thoughtfulness as in reflection and planning before the next.
Secondly, we must bide our time living off of what we reaped for ourselves, which can be hard when riding out our own unproductiveness while attempting to be productive throughout the next season.
And Thirdly - life goes on in between reapings and sowings, falling asleep and wakings, Endings and Beginnings, Death and Birth - and it is this inbetween existance that determines how the next inbetween existance will be spent. Like the moon, we persist through cycles of darkness and light, ignorance or bliss and awareness.
The poem in a way tells a tale of the significance of the number three through the concept of duality and contrast.
Superb poetry all around from conception to presentation.

Thank you, Sweets! ❤
I loved the second part too. It reminded me of a metaphor for a human family from grandmother snag to grand-sapling. Your theme observations are as astute as they are spot on! Particularly the binding of time between reaping and sowing. For everything there is a season, a time to sow and a time to reap. . .
Life does move on, doesn't it? Joy and sadness rise and fall as an ocean.
Thank you for your detailed observations between the lines of this. I deeply appreciate you and your presence always. ❤

Re. Autumn VII: Trifold
I like the way a hidden story of trusting Nature runs through the whole poem - and the observations of some of Nature's wonders. We are dependent on Her - and beautifully brought to light.
"and burning of leaves"
... yikes! leaves are compost gold ... gifted from the trees and laid before our feet to rake up and use to help make humus-rich soil - don't burn them :)) {or else leave them on the forest floor where they do a similar job encouraging worms over several years)

Thank you, Josh! We must trust nature, within and without ourselves, mustn't we? The leaves are not my doing - but in the air at this time of year. Many burn them - I don't.
Thank you for your observations! You are appreciated. xo

A Snag is such a beautiful and spiritual thing, isn't she, PR? She gives of herself way beyond death, that the next generation can continue!
You are very much appreciated! I hope you know that! xo

It would be a good symbol for new years too, the old passing on/into the new, renewal..
This is why I love living Christmas trees, I have several Norfolk pines, one is 20+ years old, and one is a couple years old..

Oh man I bet they are beautiful! Yes; Winter is a passage between sowing and reaping - a dormancy to reflect and learn what it is we wish to do differently.
Thank you, PR. I hope your Christmas is blessed with much love and happiness! xo

Dear A,
Wow! Never mind the exquisite beauty of the piece itself and how nature is so perfect, I saw a coven and so wanted to join it!
I imagined the idea of white magic working within the magic of the trees and being an assist in spreading good throughout.
Super write! In awe of your innate ability to write with such aplomb and love! H🌷

Hi Honoria!
A very high praise from you! Wasn't that the most perfect spot in the forest? I was taken by the beauty of it in the photograph. I could only imagine what it was like in person. Trees are such magical beings, aren't they? More So than the majority of us humans know.
Thank you so much! I hope you realize how appreciated you are! xo
