Drugs and Suicide

so what's the story of today's youth?
is it die young with no exceptions?
bleed out those words powerful one
tell me how you felt inside
write it down in a song
I promise to listen when you're gone
i'll live out the rest of my life
wondering why the good ones die
they'll leave flowers on your grave
some will still talk their crap
ain't worth explaining to small minds
can't turn on the TV without seeing bad news
never been religious
but to me this looks like the apocalypse
just here waiting for the end of days
fire come fall from the sky
i've lived long enough to see killings rise
kids learn death in pre-school
everyone's looking to leave early
drugs and suicide is the norm
don't matter if you're a pop star
or just a bumb on the street
money can't buy another second
guess I should be grateful I made it this long
still I wonder of the wasted possibilities
at least I've learned something
because I know it can be me next
one moment laughing with friends
the next lights out
me down convulsing on the ground
I promised my girl
we'll make it till at least 80
hard to say
when I already feel like giving up
still, life's a gift
or maybe more lik a lease
one I don't plan to break yet
I wonder what people will say
when I'm buried in that grave
a few choice words maybe
then it's business as usual
