I know you have been alone for a long time now
I wished only for your happiness
When I discovered you were lost and alone
Fighting your battles on your own
My soul discovered that you had come home
I had to show you that in my arms
When you are aching and breaking
You will always be safe
However you decided to meet me that day
I thank the cosmos above they guided you my way
                I had never felt I deserved you
A boy whose eyes revealed the lifetime of a grown man
Wisdom brought to your life not by choice but,
learned instinctive survival as a child from not one maturity of any given man
You enveloped me to see my own truth staring back at me
It was raw and unfathomable
The immaturity I could see within me
The blind privilege of my life
Sobriety was not an option for me back then
You were stronger than I was
If only I could have seen the nurture you had to offer as the only man that was good enough for me

 I ran away from the one truth I could not withstand
 Maturity
 I was not ready to release my youthful, careless ways
You were almost finished with what hid you away
And I accepted all of what you could not reveal to anyone without hesitation
 Because truly that is what I believe friendship is supposed to be
One day I hope your children will see
You were the greatest gift I had ever received
The greatest love stories of those who truly know who they are meant to be with do not question the lack of time they have been apart
The kind of partnership that inspires each other to live their best life with an unconditional reality to allow us our own fallibility
