The Girl with the Butterfly Wings
She had butterfly wings
ether-dusted, but heaven lusted
for her eyes of candy blue
The shades of woodland summers
evergreen and sleeping moss
wonders before her searching gaze
innocence portrayed in the way
the flowers swayed
She had butterfly wings
Iridescent gilded things
fluttering with her heart
above the silver moon
The lovely scents of autumn fire
embers dancing, colors playing
off her perfect, flawless skin
she wandered through the trees for hours
searching once more for something...
What was she searching for?
You see..
She had butterfly wings
and Heaven lusted for all she was
~
The stars of a winter’s breeze
carries her through the open seas
wings frantic in her search tonight
she flees in panic of the dark
sent to consume her light
Heaven lusts you see...
A screech to pierce the aching wind
a thousand cracks on ice brushed thin
she wields her blade with shaking hands
chased through that loveless land
But..
She had butterfly wings
The world would see what Hell could bring
when Heaven tried to take her skin
and sell her eyes and shred her wings
mock her flight and seize all the pretty things
it thought belonged to it
Butterfly wings...
Fire blazes, shielding fragile chitin
a light in darkness-
laughter beneath the trembling snow
A wildfire..
Cerulean flame manifesting
somewhere behind those candy eyes
a shriek of rage on ravenous gusts
sailing up towards that celestial might
and though there was a frightening
clap of Heaven’s thunder
it shuddered when she said,
“No more”
She had butterfly wings
a fragile thing yet strong
met with flames to conquer
all that would come
to shred them off her skin
and when the dark hunts
for you tonight remember,
Even a butterfly
can brush the open sky
ether-dusted, but heaven lusted
for her eyes of candy blue
The shades of woodland summers
evergreen and sleeping moss
wonders before her searching gaze
innocence portrayed in the way
the flowers swayed
She had butterfly wings
