The Tree Still Isn't Up
Someone who read my "teachable moments" and knew my tree wasn't still up drew the worst conclusion possible, that we were procrastinating because we didn't like Christmas anymore. No. That is literally an artistic side effect of winter painting and other play in the way of getting out the tree.
We keep telling ourselves we are getting around to it today, tomorrow, then today again... and Thanksgiving is just one week ago!
This is a perfect example of why we don't like having visitors. Everything is judged.

I have no tree and urge to get one (single and childless my living circumstances be); be yourself not keep up with the proverbial Joneses with having so-called right things at right time. Christmas can be kept in spirit without showing off, it is about remembering someone not born into a family with the trimmings around them.

Just seen your update - impressed that your neighbor helped put it up, puts a different complexion on the competitive picture I had and shows a better attitude than judging and passing on to the other side.
