My Island

My island floats on tide.
Occasionally to hear the gulls.
Before I'm trapped and alone.
Surrounded by moon gleamed dark waters.
Pulverizing the beaches.
We drift away with the current.
It and i.
Before the speck of us is forever unseen again.

Cannot miss what's not remembered.
Drenched down in this weather.
Bogged down now and forever.
It and i.

Land mass lost to sinking.
My ankles taking water.
Resembling, I'm down with the ship.

Until the seagulls rain their shit,
Upon my smile.
New land just ahead.
But i can't swim.

With mighty strength to rip the sole palm.
Heaved upon the shoulders to be dropped.
A splash goodbye to my face.
With salt upon my tongue.

Paddling to new beaches.
Flooded by the journey.
Destination reached with desperate gasps.
