Upon Reflection

Your hands have been threaded in mine, many times before, perhaps throughout a number of lifetimes as you felt like home.
 
I lost count of the times I lay my head upon your broad shoulders and whilst doing so, sought to find solace & peace in your embrace for my rebel heart and gypsy soul.
 
We shared our breath through kisses that left me violently inebriated, and those days linger in my mind as the realisation emerges that you never truly cared, not as much as I did and I’m OK with that now.  
 
Had we not called it quits, my children wouldn’t have gifted me with the unconditional love that’s been forthcoming from them, and whilst my heart & soul craves your touch, the lukewarm response of we’ll see, told me all I needed to know.
 
In that, you’re not fully untangled from others whom have left their mark upon you, and sadly, trauma bonds will do that to anyone.  
 
I can’t give you all my love when your heart & soul isn’t fertile to harvest upon, even though I want to share my body and life with you, wholly.  
 
Maybe, one day you’ll see more than the superficial & pretentious that messed you up on the inside in the first place, knowing that she’s not likely to ever understand you like I do.
 
In the meantime, I’ll be nurturing and nourishing your heart & soul on the astral plane, even though you’re pursuing a rose that’s bound by sacred vows that obviously mean very little, and there’s no integrity in that kind.
 
You’re headed for a head on collision with heartbreak hotel and you can’t even see it !
