NUDITY, THEOLOGY, FEMININITY

Did not God think it 'VERY good'
when he had made first humans nudd?
'Male and female He created',
His father heart demonstrated,
Naked and without any shame
of their divinely finished frame.

It was that pesky little snake
who got folk 'shamed of bits that shake
and would have had them cover up
the parts God made to help them 'tup'
and, in woman's case, suckle young
upon the breasts on top half hung.

To those who down the ages blame
women for man's fall, I'd cry 'Shame!
You've been barking up the wrong tree
maligning femininity:
It is the snake, NOT fair Eve-ie,
that represents our enemy!'

I question if 'twas in God's heart
for women to be 'race apart'
the way societies treated,
and abuses have been meted.
In first place she was made FROM man
in fulfilment of divine plan.

Hear the words of Matthew Henry,
Bible commenter, twice-wed he;
reflecting on Genesis 2
words that warm my own heart through:

"The woman was made from a rib from the side of Adam; not out of his head to rule over him nor his feet be trampled on by him. She was made from his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved.'

Author's Note
A questioning take on the events of Genesis 2 and 3. Matthew Henry (1662-1714) was an English puritan whose Bible commentaries were a goldmine for the generation of evangelical preachers such as the Wesleys that arose in the 18th century.
