What does a superhero and a super villain in my life have in common? They both babysit my kids through the T.V.!
Am I the worst mother ever? Depends on whether or not the respondent is milking you for sympathy. Actually, one of my fears which has kept me using the T.V. has been the idea that my children will get bullied and called "sheltered" for not being sufficiently exposed to pop culture. I still let that fear sway me too much, but we are reigning in our permissive, egalitarian approach somewhat. Enough to slice out the predatory influences. Well, my optimistic brain tells me that I'm successful... but experience tells me I must still have more "teachable moments" for mommy up ahead.
So, do you think my 14 year old watching ten years of "Friends" in the span of a few weeks is too sheltered? And 80 murder bios... I was like whoa... it's basically rated for your age group but.... (future suspense novelist) I totally cringe when I find out what they get up to!

I would say [ which keeps ], [ is ], and [ my ]. It would read smoother. if your children are homeschooled, you could even say [ my homeschooled ] to add a bit more info into your reasonings.
Some television is wonderful. I had all kinds of learning programs for my GrandPrecious. Back when my children were younger there wasn't so much blood, gore, walking dead, violence, etc. Hell, when I was young Dezi and Lucy weren't even allowed to sleep in the same bed because it implied sex.
Television certainly has changed over the years. In some aspects I feel it is desensitizing society to the prevalent violence escalating around us. In others, I feel it's a wonderful window into another's world. Albeit what you believe as truth comes down to you - particularly in the news.

I'm omitting "homeschooled" in this entry because I discovered years ago that public schooling kids alone is not enough to avoid the "sheltered" label.
But certainly bullies have tried that card on our kids with mixed results.

I have never understood the whole 'homeschooled' thing being separate from public school. To each child and family their own. Some parents are required to work to make ends meet, while others can opt to homeschool their children. My cousin's daughter homeschools her four boys, and they never get bullied by anyone. They are very active in community sports, e.g. - baseball, basketball, football, etc. Both public and homeschooled interact as simply schooled.
