My three least favorite months

December is a time when families unite
To strangers we are more polite
Except for the cars running to the mall
Hope more don't run into a wall!

But for me it always is sad
For an unmeasurable import
No longer is around
The piano and the music
No longer will I hear that sound

April may be nice in a way I suppose
But yet another person
Perished at a gun's nose
Eleven days before I was born
Tragic in that the direction of the scorn
So heated in violent display
Left many with nothing to say

Then came June in the Ambassador Hotel
I can still walk by and be placed under a spell
So when a brother is in the White House
A critique may be fine
But to say he needs to be "taken out"
Doesn't sit well in my mind

For if we truly believe in democracy
Other expressions can be found
In lieu of the weapon
And rounds after rounds
Whether across borders
Or a gang in a town
I am tired of the blood
That is spilled on the ground
