Image for the poem the dawn

the dawn's first blush

the day wore pajamas
it was still sleepy and not ready yet for the dawn

I curled into it and asked, "should we take a day off?"
it yawned and stretch smiled then said "no,
I have something magical to show you"

day turn on the lights
and a pink glow filled the horizon
as the sun's first blush rose in the sky

I smiled inside myself with a knowing
the light was needed to illuminate my mind
to shake off the cobwebs and chase away sadness
there was nothing more beautiful than a new day
I watched solemnly as the mists roll in making everything clean

the trees praise the heavens,
their mighty limbs reaching skyward,
in this special moment, heathen that I am. did too

I was one with the flowers smiling up at the sun
running with the river to greet the ocean
I was the pebbles in the creek
the moss that dressed them

I looked at the day again
it was wearing its finest attire
nature's beauty had worked wonders on my demeanor
I embraced the day then and all it had to offer
