footsteps
our footprint in the sand
we walk for miles and miles
people look at us like we're bad
but each step we take is toward good
our laughs empty into thin air
fringer prints disappear
skin cells go away
but the steps we take forever stay
a canvas that holds our path
one movement to the next
each word gone just like that
but our not our footsteps
our voices forgotten
our handwriting erased
our smiles captured
our hopes taken to the grave
but our footsteps forever stay
each one marking us closer and closer to the grave
each step writes out our name
each leaf stepped on
each sock and shoe
each dance move
shows everything we've been through
our voices and smiles forgotten with time
but the memories that we gave people are frozen in time
until they too die
when we leave our love ones behind
when we leave with or without a goodbye
a different part of us is in their minds
each step we took in our journey allowed our footsteps to be preserved into time
we walk for miles and miles
people look at us like we're bad
but each step we take is toward good
our laughs empty into thin air
fringer prints disappear
skin cells go away
but the steps we take forever stay
a canvas that holds our path
one movement to the next
each word gone just like that
but our not our footsteps
our voices forgotten
our handwriting erased
our smiles captured
our hopes taken to the grave
but our footsteps forever stay
each one marking us closer and closer to the grave
each step writes out our name

shows everything we've been through
our voices and smiles forgotten with time
but the memories that we gave people are frozen in time
until they too die

each step we took in our journey allowed our footsteps to be preserved into time
