You can hate me

You can hate me from yesterday until tomorrow but just know I'm standing with you hating the me of yesterday.
I can't go back and change a word or action but I can go beyond an apology.
I am not trying to be selfish and keep you from another man.
I'm trying to show that I can be the man I should have been on the other hand.
You don't look at me the same but do you think I see the same man in the mirror.
I was thinking small doing selfish things when I should have been selfless and doing something bigger.
You have the right to judge me but I should have the chance to show you my reform.
I won't make excuses like a man will be a man when my shame can just be worn.
I know the distance between us is on me too.
I saw you walking and I know I laced the shoes.
You were just looking for a better me and found the street.
But home is where the heart is and let me show you a new peace.
Kick your feet up and let your guard down and let me piece back the heart I broke.
I know it won't be easy with all the times I choked.
I let you down many times but let me lift you up to that pedestal.
I know you have felt taken for granted but let me show you that you are special.
