MirrorMirror
“Mirrors should think longer before they reflect.”― Jean Cocteau
the drinking glass
knows not what mass
fills up its cup
when drinkers sup
half-empty now
(half-full, somehow!)
it dreads no drain
nor grudges gain
the looking glass
knows not the caste
of those who gaze
upon her glaze
whose faces frown
at doubts unknown
or who find mirth
in mirror’s girth
the window glass
sees not the frost
nor does its stain
the windowpane
elate. a hole
into the soul
it mourns no past
fears no forecast
the hourglass
knows not the loss
when time deep-bleeds
as day succeeds
day or years years
he sheds no tears
tho’ lyric lips
hard songs unzip
