Heroes and mentors

So much time spent
thinking about those who've long since passed on,
always in my mind lurking as I'm
playing or working.
I wonder about their lives,
the way they lived,
all the shit they did..
Heroes and mentors
I've never met before
but I feel them
in my soul
speaking to me through
 the timeless treasures they've left for us
to admire and attempt to analyze
but we'll never see it how they did
through their eyes.
Lucky for us though
most of their best creations
remain easily accessible
and we can stay in awe of all of it
till it's our time to
trip through to the other side
where we can see what these wonderful
souls have been up to.
