Self Sabotage
I went to war with my demons
They let loose a blood curdling shriek
For I was laid up on satin sheets
With a fork tongued mistress just the other week
She stared back at me in a dirty mirror
My portal to the rot inside my soul
Eager saplings fighting to rise from the black dirt
Newly fertile prospects to behold
So fresh, so pretty
A new glimmer of hope for sore eyes
But the ever present suppressed impulse
To burn it to ashes again never dies
They let loose a blood curdling shriek
For I was laid up on satin sheets
With a fork tongued mistress just the other week
She stared back at me in a dirty mirror
My portal to the rot inside my soul
Eager saplings fighting to rise from the black dirt
Newly fertile prospects to behold
So fresh, so pretty
A new glimmer of hope for sore eyes
But the ever present suppressed impulse
To burn it to ashes again never dies
