delusions of a Goddess

 
there are no more imaginary places to hide
I feel naked without my delusions to shelter in
once I was a Goddess with a wonderful palace among the stars
now I'm just a mortal with scars

my emotions are attacking me
with internal conflict within
my mind is out of excuses and places to flee

I want to believe I'm an immortal
waging a great war with the overseers of this dominion
I once thought I had the power to destroy all they've wrought
absconding with my peoples to the place of my origins

now I'm starting to fear--
the weakness of my flesh is all too real
it confronts me with facts
if you were truly a Goddess with power--
why award yourself such a lowly station?
better yet why submit to power over you--
giving up your immortality for the duration of your stay here?

then when I am about to drown in these thoughts
a small voice chimes in
I came here to observe
to change what I could...to learn

I am an ever-evolving entity
bent on a journey of self discovery
I am in love with the one called God

I came from the stars into his atmosphere
to this place called Earth
I love his natural creations
I'm intrigued by his idea of paradise

I've quietly watched him for eons
I now have the pleasure of being called his child
I wonder now after all this time watching him--
was he watching me too with plans of oneness with me?

in honesty, my plans have changed
I am no longer a Goddess--
who thinks she knows what's best for humanity
gratefully I am learning the beauty in weakness

I came from the dark thinking to return there
I no longer wish to live in isolation
what once seemed so peaceful
now just seems lonely
