Motion Sickness

Iíd always loathed it
that tedious hello †
where mysteries †
opened their mouths † †
spilling pleasantries † †
into warm cups † †
†† †
all a fabrication of course † †
but thatís not why I started †
† † †
I began because † † †
itíd been days, months † †
I couldnít cite when † †
† † †
but I did remember an ache † † †
and if that wasnít a reason † †
to etch wounded pages † †
to sketch a fate I couldnít recall, † †
then there was nothing left to say † †
† † †
I said Iíd write it, little moon; † †
said Iíd scratch until friction † †
ignited starlight, rupturing † †
gunpowder ink † †
† † †
falling onto lashes in pearls, † †
jewels only you would own.
