Someday, when my girl is big enough,
I will look in her eyes and tell her,
“I always needed you more.”
And I hope that when she hears the pain and despair in my voice,
she’ll take my hand and tell me,
“I had never realised before.”

And although I pray she can already feel it,
I will tell her daily how much I love her,
Because before her, I had never even felt seen,
How different my life would have been.

Where there is you to depend on me,
There will always be me also depending on you,
And I swear to support you in anything you choose to do,
Because each day when I felt so low,
The guidance you gave me when you said “mummy” really did show.

You gave me days of tears - both happy and sad,
You are an absolute pleasure although sometimes so cheeky and bad,
And you can always make me laugh though you know just as well how to make me mad,
And yet each day someone up there blesses me with another day that I get to share with the angel that is you.
