What Do We Really Deserve

They laughed
peals ringing
a hollow drowning of anything that resembles
me †
my existence  
nothing but a joke †
 
shame crawls over my skin
a slug
a centipede
a spider
 
a crimson whisper of seduction †
the whisper    
of Manson †
of Bundy †
of B.T.k †
the whispers of sweet promise †
before teeth plunge into your throat †
†  
I run the water hot trying to wash off †
a semblance of it all †
trying to rinse some of the derision away †
unclean †
unfit for human eyes †
I hide in this shallow pool of water †
dizzy from the steamís rise †
†  
shunned †
torn down at every turn †
my pain is nothing to them †
†  
I laugh †
†  
a high pitched echo †
bounces from the walls †
they donít see what theyíve made †
before I dance †
in a crimson spray †
†  
the bath is hot †
it helps †
