too serious
The World needs more
nonsense…
it's plain to see...
They's some folks take
their own selves
way too serious-ly

And that's the truth. Well said, Ely, couldn't have said it better.

"The World needs more
nonsense…"
How about Roger McGough's poem, "Ex Patria"?
"After supper, we move out on the veranda.
Moths flit between lamps. We drink, think about sex
and consider how to wreck each other's lives.
At the river's edge, the kitchen maids are washing up.
In the age-old tradition, they slap the plates
against the side of a rock, singing tonelessly.
Like tiny chauffers, the mosquitos will soon arrive
and drive us home. O England, how I miss you.
Ascot, Henley, Wimbledon. It's the little things".

Re: Re. too serious
It's from Roger McGough's collection "It Never Rains" (Penguin Books, 2014, ISBN:978-0-241-97142-0). It's full of really short poems, or what my mother would have called "ditties" - and with his Spike Milligan-esque drawings. They tend to be 'spot-on spiky' and /or humerous.

The world as we know it is not stable ...every time there's a new turn to technology our lives are turned topsy turvy
and, "the world as we know it" flips once again.
Forking traumatic if anyone cared to ask me... hugs... Ely
