Beyond Our Dreams

Is Heaven located
In our dreams
Way down deep?
Do we travel there each night
As we drift off to sleep?
Is it such a thing of beauty
That we do not want to leave?
Do we feel God's arms around us
As he grant's a reprieve?

When we wake from screaming nightmares
Have we seen the gates of Hell?
Do we look into the fiery pit
And decide that all's not well?
Does it take all our resistance
To wrench free from its grasp?
As we awake in dripping sweat
Leaving that place in our past

The experiences throughout our day
Determine where we go each night
Are we in for a sleep in Heaven
Or one of deathly fright?
Those experiences are tallied
Checked by an old man by a door
They determine which way we travel
When our time on Earth's no more
