Please remember when you’re angry with me
I am not perfect
I am human
I forget things
Like bringing a new jug of milk out
Or wiping instead of washing a dish
Because it’s late and I didn’t want to wake you
I don’t see things the way you do
I look at the big picture
I don’t see if there are crumbs on my chair
I see that the whole room looks nice
I try every day to help you
I offer to chop the vegetables for the stew
I offer to bring you drinks from the back
I try to figure out nights I can cook for the family
So that you have a break
Because I know you’re tired
I know you’re getting old
I know there are days when you don’t feel good
And I try to be there for you
To help you
With anything
But you have to let me
And if I forget something now and then
