I Miss you Mom

Will be 5 years in November
Last time we spoke was on November 5th
2014
It also happened to be my birthday
Flew to Florida
She was sick
In the hospital
Tubes everywhere
Trying to hold on
She made it 2 more weeks
Worst weeks of my life
Finally passing to go see Dad
I think of them often
Daily actually  
Always there on my shoulder  
Looking over me  
Protection
 
Sitting on the couch yesterday  
Staring out the window
It came to me profoundly
In the rough and tumble of my day
How much I missed talking to my mom
Hearing her voice
Instructions and advice
Things I already knew
Because she taught me
Iconic moments of love and grief
