Far Better Things
It is the little things
The drift of wind that lifted the sunlit strand of hair
To hang suspended on the breeze
And my imagination was transfixed
By the first inkling
Of the magic that you would weave.
I remember summer days
Always in my memories.
The look ~
That look,
The look when our eyes first spoke together the joy
At the meeting of our souls
And seeing,
Our spirits danced within our gaze
As time stood still
And all there was
Was you
The smile
That was just for me
Because of me
That beckoned me to be
All that would keep that smile mine.
Always the richest treasure of my memory
It is a sacred thing to capture the tender feelings of someone's heart
For within the heart lives the dream of always
And the hope of forever
It is the garden wherein all of the beauty of the soul is kept
Surrounded by a sea of emotions
Deeper than my words can tell
For if I could
I would tell all the height, and depth,
And to the utter-most reach of my thoughts
And still,
They would be colored by you
Even as sunlight streams in
In an almost unbearable brightness of truth
For nothing could be hid of my desire
Framed so perfectly in you
In thoughts so beautiful
I still forget all other things
There are far better things and more than these of which I've dreamed
And I've whispered in murmured sleep
For my words are not as strong
or deep
nor sweet
As the feelings that you stir.
Feelings known only in your touch
And your breath upon my skin
As kisses search ~ then abandon all
In the passion that you bring
I am just a simple man
Stirred by the simple beauties of life
Like the mists burning away in the early morning
With the dew wet upon the grass
Shades of green bathed by golden sunlight
And the scent of wildflowers on the breeze
I wish you could see life
As I see it through my eyes
A life of simple things and quiet
And know the things that stir my soul
And find there
The reason you stir me
But if not,
Just know that I love beauty
And I love you.
