If I Ever Get Home

Hard to remain positive
when the world collapses around you

Kicked to your knees
face in the dirt

Crawling each second along
tooth and nail, clawing

Tomorrow you might die
today, that glimpse of sun blinds

If I ever get home before dark
my daughter will you remember me?
