Vanity

I wish my tongue were forged from silver
Or golden-clad like salamander's liver
I wish my muscular structure were solid
Or that my skin was gilded bronze or gold
I yearn for flesh not pallid and green-blue
For a way away from festering toxicity
I wish the world were not material and vain
Moreso I wish that vanity had not rubbed off on me
