i wonder how the moon feels
as it’s surface kisses the sky
does it feel as though stars blanket it
or like it has been left alone to die

i wonder if the stars know their worth
all the while lighting up our evenings
they’re of a countless number and dying
though still, such illustrious beings

then the sun finally rises
lighting up a new day
it’s more than I could ask for
i just came here to say

i want to illuminate your nights
and twinkle all around you
i want to rise and light up your world
and i promise i’ll always choose you

i may come in lunar phases
or even shoot across the horizon
i might warm your weary soul
or calm you when you’re frightened

i want to instill the kind of peace
that you find in the dark at the lake
hearing crickets and the water ripple
and accept that we all make mistakes

come with me and take a seat
take a look at all of the constellations
drink it in, and just relax
let go of all that frustration

because the moon is full
all of the stars are finally out
before the sun can rise on us
let’s ponder what life is about
