a new beginning

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me?  hope thou in God,
for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”  Psalm 42:11 KJV
the sky is fallen,
is fallen
the dancing sky.
why art thou cast down
on my head?
the heavens declare
the absence of thy glory.
at the abolition
of handy works,
men are left
utterly speechless
by day
and without knowledge
by night.

for the sky is fallen,
is fallen

the morning sky.
the eagle
hath no place
for hovering
and the skylark
sits idle
for a song.
who shall ascend
into the hills
of nothingness:
he that hath
no wings?
for the sky is fallen,
is fallen

the evening sky.
i will lift up mine eyes
and find an empty place.
no help shall come,
for i am pressed down
on every side.
lo i walk in the midst
of trouble:
who will revive me?
for the sky is fallen,
is fallen

the ancient sky.
where shall
young men
find dreams
how shall
old men
claim visions
shall the lion
devour the lamb?
shall the tender plant
bow down its head
like a root
out of a
dry ground
let the ages not die,
not die
the ages.
for they carry
the hopes
of all the generations
of earth.
if we dance
for the sky
she might be persuaded
to rise to the occasion
as the darkness
rolls away
to welcome
a new beginning
at the break of day.
