That opening description of eyes is nothing short of haunting and I think it’s a really strong image to open with. Really draws you in both through the words and the visualisation of the mind. “Hundred Proof” is a really stringent phrase. Drives that addictive ideology home.

I really liked the spiritual aspect that follows, and the piece descends into a softer imagery that is in direct contrast to the urgency of the opening.  

The white lightning tendrils almost made me think of the film “Donnie Darko” — I don’t know if you have seen it, but it describes how every human being has a portal emanating from the solar plexus. Something that is beyond time and space and understanding. Really adds this mysterious element to your story telling.  The subtle reference to the word “thighs” feels like it appears from nowhere. Feels like a delicate peep show. As if the reader is a voyeur to your activities. Really liked that about the piece. It’s delicate with a hint of risqué.  

Of course by the time we get to the end, the visceral nature of the opening statements is echoed. Descending into lust almost.  

I think what I liked most about this piece was the journey you took through the piece. As a reader, I feel privileged to experience the write, with a slight afterthought of guilt-ridden voyeurism. Lovely compact piece.
