A Glance at Grief

Gems of your eyes shyly peeked at me
– oh, I remember our youth!
Bereavement of heartache, now I wallow in anguish!

Bereaved I felt after your mortal departure,
glancing as I did time and again into midair
 – you’re no longer there!

Bereft of your eye contact,
where those eyes once peeked,
now empty air.

The anguish is hard to bear,
but I will see you again someday.
Eyes bereaved of each other is a tale of woe!

My tears of sorrow lament so loudly they draw glances!
 What else can I do
– I’m bereft of you!

The heart,
when bereft of another,
swells like the sea.

That is, until it bursts. Flooding the shores,
and all the blameless hearts
drown in our lamenting waves – this, I fear!
