Hold Me Still  (In Your Shadow)

Dusk spreads its wings for the weeping
and
my fingers follow slow, quivering
gathering last of dew from leaves

under the Eucalyptus tree
you lean
aslant
 to golden crescent
of the moon
metaphors drip from your tongue
trickling in my mouth
I drink every word drunk
in yesterday's wine
listening to songs of
your heartbeat before dawn

The ocean whines
tormented
at our feet
receding
 to greet the salty kiss
of quivering lip
and
I fail to answer your questions
draped from the horizon.

My gaze rests on fallen stars
knowing soon you'd vanish
with blood-orange moon
my nakedness blooms
unfurling secrets
enveloped in your shirt
scent of promises
lingering from frayed threads.

The aching throb of
languorous lover pulsates on
nocturnal sky
rekindling the wrinkled
folds
of all that's left behind.

Remembering:
remembrance is not redemption
recognition is not acknowledgment
conquest is not happiness
and
a smile on horizontal sheets
lost in its own innocence
when the broken is never healed.

In dreams
we are nothing more than dreams
streaming on tears
to meet the vast ocean
oaring on
void
roaring
in void
sinking in the moment
forever
pulsating
in eternity.
