Not Scientific but Legal Objectivity Prevails
I ticked every box as mixed race,
a scientist objectively
answering the question in place.
But legal objectivity
accurately reflects the world.
Our shared irrationality,
says Lord Denning, is now unfurled
upon the Clapham omnibus:
reason in the common man's world.
His view is reasonableness,
and his view in this world prevails ...

I find the difference between scientific objectivity and legal objectivity fascinating ... I studied science first and so thought that the only objectivity that existed was scientific. It wasn't until I studied law that ... anyway, see poem above.

... a very neat summary stanza - and I always find it interesting how the continuing and developing history of 'case law', sits as a balance with 'the written law', and with both open to interpretation how final judgements can be swerved into prejudice by those who are very clever at 'arguing the case' - one barrister's cleverness pitted against another's. Of course science is also open to abuse in terms of 'interpreting results'. I guess in the end we rely on the integrity of those holding positions of power and influence in our society.
